Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-12
Plain English, no fine-print games. By uploading a photo to blurmyplate, you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, that's okay — just don't use the service.
1. What blurmyplate is
blurmyplate is a web tool for anyone selling a car online. You give it a photo, it finds the license plate, blurs it, and hands the photo back ready to post. It's built for masking plates before you list on marketplaces like Craigslist, Facebook, or AutoTrader — not for forensic or legal-grade redaction.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the service.
3. Your photos, your responsibility
- You confirm that you own the photo you upload, or have permission to upload it.
- You agree not to use the service to blur plates in order to harass, stalk, evade law enforcement, or otherwise harm a specific person.
- We don't review uploads for compliance with the above — that's on you — but we cooperate with valid legal requests.
4. Best-effort detection
Our plate detection is highly accurate and reliably catches plates in the vast majority of real-world listing photos. That said, no machine-vision system is perfect — we can't promise that every plate in every photo will be detected or blurred. Always review the output before posting it anywhere public. Previewing is free, so you can check the result before you pay or download.
5. Payments
- There are two ways to pay, and both are one-time — no subscription, no auto-renew, no surprise charges. You can either unlock a single batch (the photos you just blurred, no account needed) or buy a credit pack (prepaid blurs for repeat sellers, flippers, and dealers).
- Credit packs are valid for 12 months from purchase. Any unused credits expire after a year. One-off batch unlocks don't use credits and don't expire — you just pay per batch.
- The price you see at checkout is the price you're charged. Any local taxes are shown separately.
- On your statement, the charge reads
BLURMYPLATE.COM.
6. Refunds
Email [email protected] within 7 days of purchase if:
- Plate detection missed a meaningful share of your batch and you can't get a usable result.
- A fault on our side stopped you from downloading your photos or using credits you paid for.
We'll refund the unlock fee or any unused credits — no questions asked. We don't refund batches that processed correctly but you simply changed your mind: the photos were already blurred and the work was done.
7. Service availability
We aim for high uptime but do not contractually guarantee any specific SLA. If the service is unavailable when you try to use it, retry later or email support.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit content you don't have the rights to.
- Use the service to facilitate illegal activity.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or extract bulk data from the service.
- Circumvent the per-batch photo cap or unlock pricing.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these rules, and we keep the right to refuse service to anyone for any lawful reason.
9. Intellectual property
You keep all rights in your photos. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to process the photo for one purpose only: detecting the plate, producing the blurred version, delivering it back to you, and deleting it afterward. We don't claim ownership of your photos, and we never relicense or sell them to anyone else.
The blurmyplate name, logo, and website are ours.
10. Liability
We provide the service "as is". Our maximum aggregate liability for any claim arising out of your use of blurmyplate is the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow this kind of cap — if you're in one, this paragraph doesn't apply to you.
11. Changes
If we materially change these terms we'll update last_updated at the top and, for anyone with an active paid batch, send a heads-up email.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction where the business is registered (see the footer). Any dispute will be resolved in the courts there.
